People of different origins, language, and musical taste flood the streets of Barcelona throughout the summer for a taste of amazing food, art, and to get into some of the worlds best music festivals like Cruilla.
Cruilla is one of those more eclectic festivals that doesn't discriminate by genre of music or art. Even though it's hosted in Spain, artists from around the world are on the show's bill. This year names like Leon Bridges, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Alanis Morissette headlined each day of the 3 day festival and were surrounded by the bulk of the crowd on each day. People partied until the small hours of the morning, most celebrating the end of the work week until 5 and 6am. In a country that is known for eating later than usual, it's not uncommon to crawl into bed the next day after going out for a drink or to a show, let alone to a massive global music festival.
Cruilla began in 2005 in the city of Mataró, Spain as a small concert series. Fairly quickly, like most successful concert series, it drew massive crowds from around the world. Cruilla moved to Barcelona in 2008 due to the needs of larger space, bigger acts, and the growing audience. Today, 2025, it is one of the worlds fully cashless festivals and draws over 80,000 people from around the world in attendance. Barcelona, the city that now houses Cruilla, has also grown to become a center for globally attended summer music festivals and arts festivals. Other festivals include Primavera and Sonar, each focused on various music genres, which makes Cruilla one of the more unique shows among the group.
