DOCUS, the Pop Electro Folk band formed in 2022, had set up for an impromptu street performance, enchanting passersby with their unique blend of English and Brazilian folk songwriting styles infused with electro beats and synths. As the crowd gathered, a serendipitous moment unfolded when the legendary rock band Maná stumbled upon the performance.
Drawn in by the captivating sounds of DOCUS, Maná enjoyed the entire impromptu concert, stayed to discuss gear, and even showed their support by purchasing a tee shirt. This spontaneous interaction led to an engaging conversation between the two bands, culminating in an unexpected yet thrilling invitation: Maná asked DOCUS to open for their concert at the iconic Palau Sant Jordi on Sunday, performing in front of 18,000 fans.
Matthew Kerr and Matheus Lucena of DOCUS, who currently reside in Spain, were ecstatic about the opportunity. "It was a surreal experience," said Matthew Kerr. "We always envisioned the power of the big stage with our mascot and muse, the Diplodocus, but nothing could have prepared us for the thrill of opening for Maná." Matheus Lucena added, "Meeting Maná and being invited to perform on such a grand stage was beyond our wildest dreams. Our debut EP is about the universe and the stars aligning, and this moment felt like the perfect embodiment of that theme."
